Some of the Effects of Societal Advertising

Rational Argument on the Effects of Societal Advertising

Advertising has become apart of our daily lives, my argument explores this idea and argues how it may be affecting our thought process and communities. Basically everyone knows what advertising is, but a lot of people don't seem to know how many adverts they actually consume in a day. According to Forbes, “most Americans are exposed to around 4,000 to 10,000 ads each day” (Simpson). (Source). I know that personally, if I didn't use AdBlock I'd be getting hundreds of ads on YouTube and the various other social media platforms I use. Not to mention the advertisements on billboards on the way to and from school or wherever else it is that I'm going.

One of the main points of my argument is how these advertisements affect our society. Many people believe that adverts as they are now are fine because they are an important part of our economy and help to market products to people who otherwise might not have seen them. But what if I told you that modern day advertising has move away from the initial definition. Advertisements used to be all about promoting products and have since moved to promoting specific companies ideologies. Advertainments in the modern age have changed, and my argument explores this and argues against people complacent with todays adverts.

Overall this rational argument paper has led me to learn more about advertisements than I knew before which will benefit me in everyday life. I may pick up on the subtle things I wasn't noticing before and better identify advertising tricks.
